"It's been a long walk to citizenship."
Krasmira and Nenio immigrated to the United States five years ago from Bulgaria to live with their son and his family in Shakopee. Now in their sixties, they were retired from long successful careers as a fashion designer and chemical engineer, respectively.
The couple began classes at SWMetro ABE in October of last year and continued to attend citizenship classes on Zoom as COVID began in the spring. They have been married forty years and celebrated their anniversary the week of their citizenship ceremony.
