Students can pursue full-time academic status through distance learning, allowing them to earn their high school diploma online; take more robust or stimulating elective courses outside of their regular requirements; fulfill credit recovery due to any number of personal circumstances; or take Career and Technical Classes to get a head start on a chosen career path - all starting the 2021-2022 school year on September 7th. Families can keep their relationship with their current school district so there is no need to re-register with a different district. SouthWest Metro is simply providing the service and it will be at no cost to the students or families - even the Career and Tech classes!

This afternoon, the jury in the trial of Derek Chauvin reached a verdict of GUILTY on 3 counts. SouthWest Metro Intermediate District recognizes that this will result in many complicated and extreme emotions in our community, particularly among our youth. We are committed to ensuring a safe learning environment for our students. For this reason, classes will continue in their current models so that our students can have space to discuss the complex topics that have followed the killing of George Floyd and the verdict of Derek Chauvin.

All Minnesotans ages 16 and up are encouraged to sign up for the Vaccine Connector, to get updates on vaccination opportunities in your area and be entered into the random selection process for the state’s Community Vaccination Program sites.

Gary Dohse's YouthBuild program recently completed a storage renovation project at East Creek Family Center in Chaska. In addition to building a storage room, the students also built a wall enclosing an area under the grand staircase in the entry space of the building. The wall is painted with "dry erase" paint, making the entire surface an area for creative collaboration.
