FFA Feed a Farmer Donations

SWMetro FFA seeks donations for "Feed a Farmer"
Posted on 10/17/2018
FFA logoHello!

We would like to introduce ourselves! We are the SouthWest Mero FFA. FFA is a student run, dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Our chapter consists of students in multiple school districts covering the southwest metro area. As a chapter we strive to focus on the motto of the National FFA Organization which is: Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, and Living to Serve.

Our chapter is 50 members strong and covers a majority of the Scott and Carver Counties. Every year we conduct a corn drive in which we drive around to local farms and ask for donations of corn. The corn is then taken to the local elevator to be sold, the proceeds then go to True Friends which is a camp for kids with special needs. The farmers have always been very generous, and we have been successful in giving a nice donation every year to True Friends. This year we are very concerned with the price of corn, and feel that asking for a donation this year would leave farmers more stressed with their financial state.

So, to recognize their continual support in the past, this year we have decided to give back and serve the farmers bag lunches during harvest. Our date for sack lunch deliveries is October 17th, 2018. We are asking for donations of either gift cards to local grocery stores, food donations (see below), or donations to the chapter so that we can then afford to purchase the supplies needed to give back to the farmers.

Thank you for your consideration in assisting us with this opportunity to give back to our community.

Sincerely,

Matt Lenzen, SouthWest Metro FFA President
