Principles of Engineering
Project Lead The Way's approach, called activities-, project-, and problem-based (APPB) learning, centers on hands-on, real-world projects that help students understand how the information and skills they are learning in the classroom may be applied in everyday life.
INTRO TO ENGINEERING DESIGN (IED)
1 SEMESTER
Drawing and 3D computer design modeling of objects using Autodesk Inventor 13 software. Students design 2 projects of their choosing. This is an introductory course which develops engineering design problem-solving skills. Students focus on the application and visualization process of a product and how a model of that product is produced using a CAD system. This Engineering Design class is recommended as the first Project Lead The Way class in the sequence of pre-engineering courses.
PRINCIPLES OF ENGINEERING (POE)
1 SEMESTER
This course exposes students to major concepts they'll encounter in a post-secondary course of study. Topics include mechanisms, energy, statics, materials and kinematics. Students develop problem-solving skills and apply their knowledge of research and design to create solutions to various challenges, document their work and communicate solutions.
PLTW's curriculum is standards-based, yet flexible and customizable so that schools and school districts can meet their curricular needs.
PLTW Pathway to Engineering (PTE) is a four-year high school sequence taught in conjunction with traditional math and science courses. PTE's courses provide students with in-depth, hands-on knowledge of engineering and technology-based careers.
